What is ALA?

The Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) is an international association founded in the United States in 1971 to provide education and resources to professionals involved in the management of law firms, corporate legal departments and government legal agencies.  ALA promotes and reinforces the competence and professionalism of Legal Administrators and other members of legal management teams by providing high quality educational programs and by bringing members together in an environment that encourages the exchange of information and ideas at the national, regional and local chapter levels.

Who Are Legal Administrators?

Legal Administrators support and enhance the practice of law by freeing attorneys from business management concerns therefore allowing them to focus on providing quality legal services to clients.  Responsibilities of Legal Administrators include Finance, Technology, Human Resources, Marketing and other management-related issues.  Technological advances and ever-changing economic conditions have caused significant changes in the management of legal practices and law firms.  Such changes have increased opportunities for the Association of Legal Administrators to offer continuing education, training and support to Legal Administrators.

Why Should You Join OC-ALA, the Orange County Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators?

Membership in OC-ALA, the Orange County Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators, will open the door to a variety of benefits such as educational opportunities, networking with other members and legal business-related vendors (Business Partners), and the opportunity to obtain and exchange ideas and information with other members of your profession in the Orange County area and beyond.

How Can You Get Involved in Chapter Activities?

The Orange County Chapter encourages members to volunteer their time and become involved in chapter activities such as planning and executing educational or networking events and serving in leadership positions.  The rewards gained from such involvement benefits members and their firms and also provides personal and professional satisfaction.  We welcome the opportunity to acquaint you with our Chapter!
