Topic: Law Firm Challenges in the Covid-19 Pandemic and Beyond

Many in the legal profession have long noticed that law firms talk a lot about change, but most real changes get implemented only around a major financial downturn.  And the Covid-19 Pandemic has now created the most severe challenges for the profession since the Great Depression.  While the pandemic is prompting firms to make a number of short term changes (layoffs, lawyers working in shifts, semi-permanent work-from-home programs), those may be the easier challenges compared to the next 12 months.  This program will focus on the mid and long term changes impacting law firms.  Some of these are a direct result of the pandemic, but others have been discussed and considered for years but which were untapped due to the economy and/or law firms’ reluctance to change.

  • To understand the midterm and long term changes that are likely to impact the legal profession.
  • To understand why the impact of Covid-19 will likely accelerate, and how law firms can adapt.
  • To understand some of the subtle but critical changes that law firms should recognize.
  • To understand the client priorities that are motivating these trends.
